How do I set or modify a user's Individual Credit Limit?

Learn how to manage a user's individual credit limit and make sure their purchases are within your specified limit.

An Account Admin or Group Admin can set an Individual Credit Limit for an individual buyer, limiting that user's purchasing power

To set an Individual Credit Limit or modify a user's existing Individual Credit Limit, navigate to the Users page under the Admin Settings in the menu bar and select the pencil icon next to the user record you wish to edit. From the Edit User page, navigate to the Purchasing subpage.

You can set or modify the Individual Credit Limit to as high as the company’s overall credit limit. If the user already has open charges and authorizations, you will not be able to edit the credit limit below this amount.

The company's overall credit limit does not need to be divided equally among the buyers. For example, if the company's overall credit limit is $10,000 and there are 3 buyers, each buyer could be assigned a $5,000 individual credit limit. If two of the buyers spend $3,000 each ($6,000 total), then those two buyers will only have $2,000 of credit limit left, and the other buyer, who has not purchased, will only be able to spend up to $4,000.

You also have the option to remove the Individual Credit Limit. If no Individual Credit Limit is assigned, then the buyer will have access to the company's full credit limit.
